Restricted Words (Business names)

Restricted Words are specific words that cannot be used in a business name without obtaining Ministerial or other authorised consent (e.g. the use of the word ‘banker’ requires approval from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)). Restricted Words are set out in the Business Names Registration (Availability of Names) Determination 2012.
